AA-M提供兩個同時測量點：一個位于顯微鏡焦平面上，另一個位于儀器的光學頭位置，比如，顯微鏡輸入之前。測量的這兩個脈寬值進行對比決定了顯微鏡光學元件色散帶來的脈沖展寬。顯微鏡中超短脈沖的大多數應用是表征顯微鏡焦點處光束的時間和空間輪廓。這些測量結果對任何實驗都很重要，脈沖越短，非線性成像過程（雙光子激發）的效率越高，實驗成功需要的激發能量越少。在決定樣品曝光時需要光束參數表征，確保圖像好和正確的強度水平，因為錯誤的值可能會導致樣品損壞。
儀器使用USB接口，可以連接Windows操作系統的計算機。提供多種軟件工具。采集的脈寬數據可視化，可存儲或導出txt或dat文件。可以計算并實時顯示自相關函數和*終FWHM飛秒脈寬。而且，可以高斯或雙曲線擬合，也可查看強度函數。統計分析功能可以對幾個單獨的脈沖測量結果進行對比。
